DISABLED ACCESS
At Volksleisure we pride ourselves on working with the customer to ensure their campervan caters for all the families requirements. VW transporters are fantastic base vehicles for disability conversions. Whilst we do not specialise in disability vehicles we do carry out adaptations to our design layout to accomadate disabled requirements.
Paul and Jenny Rawlinson needed a campervan which had the flexibility to accolade their daughters disability buggy and more importantly a wheelchair in the future as well as being an every day family vehicle. 4 year old Mary who suffers from a rare chromosome disorder needed not only wheel chair access but secure chassis fixing points, electrical adaptations and the right interior.
Special attention was needed when choosing the right textured wood and mood lighting which would stimulate Mary’s sensory needs. Special inverters were fitted to power a feed pump via a gastrostomy. Adaptations were made to the chassis and build to ensure the buggy or wheelchair would be securely anchored whilst travelling along with design changes to the sliding seat system ensuring enough space was created to not only fit Mary in the rear but up to 2 adults as well.
Specially selected ramps were chosen which stow away neatly in the rear of the campervan. Paul said, “Working with Neil along with advice from the HMRC disability guidelines for zero rated VAT status, they successfully built what has become an essential family multi purpose disability adapted campervan, it’s given us flexibility not only for everyday transportation but for recreation and leisure usage as hotels, campsites and public facilities are not always suitable to cater for Mary’s daily needs”.
Why not see how we can help adapt & build your next new Volksleisure campervan.
